3rd year student Niamh Murray represented her school at the Leinster Schools' Championships in Santry, having qualified from the North Leinster Championships. Niamh ran a steady race in the under 17 Intermediate 3,500 metres to record a top 35 finish, and is eligible to compete in this age group again next year as she is only 15.
North Leinster Schools' Cross Country
The Minor, Junior and Intermediate Scoil Uí Mhuirí athletes competed in the North Leinster Championships on Wednesday 1st February in Dublin. The minor girls team ran very well with Aoife Kelly leading the girls home. The minor boys and junior boys also did their best against tough opposition, but it was Niamh Murray who had the best outing on the day, running the Intermediate 3,000 metres event, and finishing 8th to qualify for the Leinster Intermediate girls championship on February 8th in Santry. Well done to everybody who competed.
Drogheda and District Schools' Cross Country
The Scoil Uí Mhuirí athletics team were very successful at the Drogheda and District schools 25th anniversary event with 2 sets of team medals coming back to Dunleer. The Girls under 14 were recipients of bronze team medals, led home by Aoife Kelly while the girls over 15 were silver team medallists, with Eimear Murray finishing 4th just ahead of her younger sister Niamh in 5th, followed by Niamh Fussey and Ciara Mc Mahon. The boys under 14 and 15 ran very well in their first cross country races of the season, but unfortunately finished out of the medals on this occasion. The boys under 17 were led home by Abi Sasore, while the under 20 boys had a 12th place finish in Patrick Duff.

1st Year Success at Claremont Stadium
The Scoil Uí Mhuirí 1st Year Athletics Team competed in their first event in Claremont Stadium, Navan, on 27th September 2011. In second place in the girls’ 800m was Aoife Kelly and in 3rd place in the relay were the Scoil Uí Mhuirí boys (Enda Mc Kenna, Mark Whelan, Mark Mc Cullough and Thomas Byrne) after a great effort to get to the final.
