About Us

Exceptional Facilities
With the opening of the new extension to Scoil Uí Mhuirí in September 2006, students now have the opportunity to avail of some of the most modern educational facilities in the country.

All of the mainstream subjects are taught in dedicated classrooms. Specialist subjects are catered for in new, spacious rooms that use some of the most advanced educational equipment available, while the modern library offers tranquil and resourceful study facilities.

Art students can express themselves freely in a purpose built and superbly equipped art room that simply floods with natural light. A state of the art Home Economics room boasts some of the most modern equipment available. The modern language room utilises the most sophisticated IT equipment to enhance students' learning of these most important subjects. In recognition of the creative and innovative approaches adopted in the teaching of modern languages, Scoil Uí Mhuirí became the first second level school in the country to be awarded the prestigious European Label Award in 1999, an achievement that was repeated in 2005.

Third level institutes regularly stress the importance of Science and Technology to the economic growth of the country. The school has two modern Science laboratories while a tiered demonstration room allows students to study Science related subjects utilising the most up to date facilities available. An Engineering room, a new purpose built Technology and Woodwork room along with a fully networked Technical Drawing room means that students can study these subjects in an environment that has kept abreast of modern technological advances. Scoil Uí Mhuirí is among the first schools in the country to offer Technology at Leaving Certificate level.

Physical Education is now part of the school curriculum and students can avail of the most modern facilities in the new gymnasium and fitness suite. New, on-site playing fields along with indoor and outdoor tennis and basketball courts will ensure that the school's proud sporting traditions will continue.

Information and Communication Technologies

The school policy recognises the need for our students to be capable of using a wide variety of ICTs for learning and in their future careers. The school boasts a state of the art computer room and every classroom is networked and equipped a data projector and a computer system. Indeed some of the specialist rooms are themselves networked and have one computer per student.

The Internet is used regularly to enhance students' learning experiences and the school enforces a strict Acceptable Use Policy in relation to this.
Our innovative ICT policy has led to the school being recognised nationally as one of the most visionary and progressive schools in this particular area of development.
