Fund Raising

Parents Associations are entitled to raise funds for the administration and activities of the association. A Parents Association is expected to consult with the school board, which includes the Principal, about fund raising as the approval of the board is normally needed prior to funds being raised. Any funds raised must be used for the purpose for which the money was collected. Full accounts should be maintained and presented at the Parents Association AGM.

Scoil Uí Mhuirí Parents Association Fund Raising

The main fund raising for the Parents Association is €20.00 per family which is paid as part of the €120.00 of the book scheme paid at the beginning of the school year. While this is an optional payment, it is a payment which is well used during the year for the benefit of all of the students and for the school itself. It reduces the need for the Parents Association to be involved in major fund raising and allows the Parents Association support the school in special projects.

Over the years the Parents Association have been happy to assist the school in a number of ways especially in school and after school activities and primarily in the installation of CCTV’s throughout the school, the project alone contributed €27,342.15. This CCTV project has increased the protection of all the students in the school along with the security of our developing school.

The Parents Association have facilitated a number of students over the past few years to enable them to take part in the Tall Ship Project. This year we will be running a competition to give Driving Lessons to a number of students from 5th and 6th year through the Dunleer Driving School.

Last year in a Wine Tasting Fund Raising Event the Parents Association raised €1,080 and every year tries to run fund raising events so to add to the monies received from the €20 family contribution.

The family contribution to the Parents Association of €20.00 or any donations can be paid through the School Secretary to the Parents Association and it is important to remember that all monies are used for the benefit of all the students and the school as a whole.

The Parents Association liaise with the Student Council, in order to keep the student body up to date with any fund raising or policies which would affect them.
