Students Supports & Pastoral Care
In order to ensure the smooth transition from Primary to Secondary education, the school offers a Transfer Programme, Induction Day & a Mentoring System to first year students. All incoming students are assigned a mentor from Fifth Year and this ensures that another student is always there to listen to any worries or concerns that may arise. A full induction programme is also offered to First Year students. Each class is assigned a Class Tutor and each year group is managed by a Year Head.
In addition, Scoil Uí Mhuirí has a full time Home School Community Liaison Officer (Frances), and a School Completion Programme Project Worker (Paula), who are always ready to supply support to those in need.
Scoil Ui Mhuirí's full time Home, School, Community Liaison Officer is Ms Frances Beard whose duty it is to seek to promote partnership between parents and teachers . The purpose of this partnership is to enhance the pupils’ learning opportunities and to promote their retention in the education system. In addition the HSCL Scheme tries to involve the school in the life of the community and involve the community and its agencies in the life of the school
The goals of the HSCL Scheme focus on supporting parents co-operation between home, school and community, parents and young people in the education system.
