Road Safety Project
Mr. John Molloy was engaged with the BOM and then Principal Ms. Rocks and the Parents Association and the Student Council in organising road safety at each level within the student body.
The Irish Road Safety Authority in association with the Parents Association in Scoil Uí Mhuirí is running a community road safety education program named “A CALL TO ACTION”. This is a two hour presentation which will take place on the 6th of April in Scoil Uí Mhuirí and will start at 7.00 pm and finish at 9.00 pm and is open to all members of the public over 18 years.
The main topics covered include:
Speed and Speeding
Road User Impairment: fatigue, mobile phone use, alcohol and drug use
Safe Behaviour Rewards
Vulnerable road users
Belts, child restraints and safety on buses.
This presentation will be made by a member of the Fire Service and Gardaí and it is also planned to have a representative from the medical profession. A special guest speaker will give a very personal account of her own experience after being left wheelchair bound from a road traffic accident.
