Scoil Uí Mhuirí "First Lego League" News, November 17th 2009

We, the students of transition year have done a project on transport for FEL (First Lego League). We had to pick a problem and find a solution. Our problem is the traffic congestion outside the school, because it is dangerous. Our solution to get more cars off the road is to carpool. We surveyed the drivers and they agreed. Out of 23 people 16 said "yes" to car pooling. Since the survey was carried out we have gotten at least 5 cars off the road at home time. We are very happy with the results and hope more people start to car pool.

As part of electronics, the TY students are entering the "First Lego League" competition. We researched the idea that our school bags are too heavy. The weight of our school bags was causing back pains. We came to the conclusion that we could reduce the weight of our bags by using the school website to publish homework and notes. This will reduce the amount of books we need in our bag and lighten the load.
